Apart from the Oracle of Ammon, Herodotus refers specifically to one other landmark in Siwa. As so often in the Histories, it is a crowd-pleasing marvel.

They have another spring there, of which the water is tepid in the early morning and cools down toward market time; by noon it is very cold, and that is the moment when they water their gardens; then, as the days draw towards evening, the chill gradually goes off it, until by sunset it is tepid again; after that it gets hotter and hotter as the night advances, and at midnight it boils furiously. Then, after midnight, the process is reversed, and it steadily cools off until dawn. The spring is known as the Fountain of the Sun.
